Voices from the Past Continue to Shape Our Future at Maxons!

Over the years I have found several quotes from great Leaders that have really inspired in me in my day to day actions at Maxons.  I thought I’d like to share them and why I find them inspiring in case anyone else finds the same thing!

A general is just as good or just as bad as the troops under his command make him.   ~General Douglas MacArthur

The first one appeals to me because of my management responsibilities.  In order for me to be a good manager, I first have to have good people to manage.  We are lucky at Maxons that this is the case!

I failed my way to success.   ~Thomas Edison

I find this quote inspires me when I need to work on selling our services and building new relationships in the industry.  Failure is a part of my success; If I never fail, then that means that I have never tried; if I never try, then I will never succeed.  So, failure shouldn’t discourage me, because it is just part of the sales process.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few; and let those be well-tried before you give them your confidence.   ~George Washington

This third quote has been helpful in all aspects of my life, it reminds me to be vigilant in trusting those around me so that the relationships I do create are strong and successful.

The Ease of Freecycling!

Over the weekend I helped a family member move, we were running out of liquor stores to beg for boxes from, but luckily they had been using a site called freecycle.org for years and we found a few posts of people in the area getting rid of moving boxes.  We also ran out of bubble wrap, posted that we needed some, and got a few hits back of people who could spare some.  It was awesome!  Things that would have cost us quite a bit at a store we were able to collect quickly, easily and for free in their neighborhood!

I had never used the site before this weekend, however, I have since gone on and checked out postings in my local area.  It is a really great concept, both to get rid of quality items you no longer need, as well as to help people or companies that are low on funds to collect items they do need.  I saw a few postings from schools looking for school supplies, people looking for baby clothes, and people offering up items like couches and book shelves.  In the city it is easy to see the amount of furniture trashed as people move, it is right there on the sidewalk for you to trip over, but I think this is a great site that could help all of us eliminate waste as well as get stuff to those who need it!

Next time you do a closet clean out, or are on the hunt for something, take a look at freecycle.org.

All of us lead very busy and sometimes hectic lives.  It’s not always easy to “fit” that workout into our daily schedule, and you don’t have to have a gym membership to enjoy the benefits of exercise.  Be creative and get your heart pumping….whether it’s desk aerobics with your co-workers in the afternoon, taking the stairs instead of the elevator or jumping rope with your kids…we can all manage to fit something like that in, and it’s fun.  So, get moving and enjoy the health benefits of exercise!

Identity Theft and Filing Taxes

Identity theft is scary on many levels, and this year many people are finding out as they go to file their taxes that an identity thief may have already filed in their name.   See the article below for more information about this issue.
