Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I went to my first holiday party this year – and I liked everyone who works here!  When meeting a whole group you aren’t sure what will happen.  It is a great fit for me here, and it was so fun to see us be able to have a lot of fun together outside the office.  It is a great group of people!

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Lou, a Project Manager, about his experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long been with Maxons?

A:  7 years.

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  That we were pretty well organized, and we knew what we were doing.  I had worked for others in the industry who were not put together as well.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  The Maxons way – I knew the work, but had to learn how to do it our way.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Negotiation.  I can take this personally, but now I understand it is give and take and I don’t need to take it personally.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  I like to help people, and I like the people I work with.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Our brand anchors – speed communication expertise, and of those, speed really means a lot to me.  Because I try to act as quickly as possible to whatever needs to be done – I like to get things done.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:   We were planning to do a relay race at our summer outing one year.  Alan and I decided we were going to practice to get an advantage on race day!  We were running up and down the hallway practicing for our event – confusing our neighbors!  It totally worked – we were the best at our part of the race!

And I have another good one to share.  One time on a job I was with one of my coworkers, Andrea.  A pump had gotten clogged at the site.  When I went to look at it, I touched the top of it and it burst!  Filthy water from a parking garage sprayed all over Andrea and I.  I quickly stood in front of her and we ran from the room.  We got outside and she said “Look at me.”  Filthy water was dripping down her face.  I responded “You look terrific.” We both cracked up!

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Kathy, a Sales Coordinator and Account Manager, about her experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long been with Maxons?

A:  8.5 years.

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  Amazing!  I loved the culture – there was a lot going on, lots of events and different things happening.  We were busy.  I was really impressed how much got done.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  That planning and communication is very important within the team.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Consistency, we always need to be doing follow up and follow through.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  Because we help people at their worst.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Optimism because it is very easy to become negative and dwell.  If we all did that everything would go downhill.  It is easier to commit to the rest of our values when you are positive and optimistic.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  At one of our company outings we had some music playing while we were hanging out by a pool.  “Single Ladies” came on the radio and two of our Project Managers got up and did the whole single ladies dance – not only in front of us, but the other guests at the hotel!  We have a lot of fun, and it still makes us crack up!

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Allen, a Project Coordinator, about his experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  2 years

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  My first day was a full staff meeting day – it was really active and busy.  Had a lot of training right away – it was intense!

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  Learned a lot in training.  Then very quickly had to learn some more email etiquette.  Luckily – right when I started we had a communication seminar.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  The most important thing I have learned is proper communication.  Being able to properly communicate with PM on jobs, with clients on jobs, and  with insureds on jobs.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  Learning something new everyday.  Now I am getting out to more jobs – and I am able to learn different things from those visits.  And I see how every project is a way to bring some type of comfort to someone, that we are able to help them.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Optimism – saying no to negativity – it is just my personality!

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I have a few.  I was able to see that there is a lot more to being coworkers at Maxons.  Greg in our office had a flat tire on a very cold, winter day.  Lou from our office went out and met Greg on the highway – stayed with him until the tow truck came, then they ate lunch together.  It showed me we have something beyond a work relationship – that at Maxons we share true, genuine caring.

Also last year our office lost 2 sales people in a short amount of time.  Leadership came to visit and said it was a difficult time, but that it brings opportunity.  We were feeling lost, and that we wouldn’t meet our goal.  But Leadership offered encouraging words to take the challenge as an opportunity.   We have all been able to expand our skills as a result of their encouragement.
