Meeting Maxons!

Meetign Maxons

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Andy, our Senior Director of Client Services, about his experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  Will be 12 years in the summer.

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  I thought that what we did was fascinating because I wasn’t from the industry.  I was impressed with the longevity with the employees, and the feeling of being part of large family.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  The inner working of the industry, the flow of work, who was responsible for what.  When I started here I didn’t know what an adjuster was!  So I had to learn everything!

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  I think that even though in your heart you strive to be everything to everyone all the time, that sometimes you can’t just do that.  And that it is painful at times when you have to let a friend down, either personally or in business.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  Because I care about people and we are in a caring industry.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Sincerity.  Because it exemplifies being caring to people and I have always told my clients that I am the guy you want in a foxhole with you!

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I believe that being one of the first public responders to the disaster of 9/11 and being part of the  company that cleaned the Great Seal of the United States and other national landmarks and treasures I something very few other people can say.  And that fills me with a lot of pride.

Meeting Maxons!

Meetign Maxons

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Monika, our Director of Client Services, about her experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  7 months.

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  I settled in pretty quickly, everyone was really helpful, and worked well across departments and offices.  I felt really welcomed.  Everyone always asked if I needed anything, especially the more senior people.  My coworkers were easy going and open, and eager to help each other.  I didn’t feel “new” for long.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  The restoration business terminology. I was coming from real estate and I knew some things, but understanding exactly what we do, and that it is more than just a business, we really are in business to help people.  And I realized everyone who works here really wants to help people.  That we are in a business of caring.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Don’t let the highs get too high and the lows get to low.  We say it a lot and it has stuck with me.  It keeps me wanting to grow and not get fixated on problems.  Tomorrow is always a new day.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  Every day is different.  What we do is restore people’s lives and hopes, we all have a passion for that.  Especially when we go through a really busy time – seeing how things can change from hour to hour!   It is great to watch how much our staff cares about what we do.  In sales I have learned to really appreciate what the Project Managers do – and that they care a lot about each and every project.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Teamwork – we have different locations, people in the field, we aren’t always in the same room, but we really work as a unit and a team no matter what.  Whether it is busy or not, we are all in it together.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  On of my favorite moments was going to a large fire job with our VP and a Project Manager.  A caterer that does large, high end events had a fire above their kitchen, and had an event that night they needed to prepare for.  It was great to see how quickly we got a large amount of people there so we could meet their very tight time line.  We were able to help them, and do the right job!

Also – on my second day of work the Maxons team held a Welcome Breakfast for me – it was a surprise that shocked me!  I stared at all of them like a deer in the headlights as I am not good with surprises.  But it really bonded us all, we still laugh about it.

Additionally in my first week of work was our annual summer outing at an estate with a pool.  I met our CEO for the first time while putting on sun tan lotion pool side.  He said nice to meet you and then he dragged an umbrella over to give us some shade, because that is how we roll here!  Always helping someone out no matter who we are!

I have also had countless fun moments with my coworkers who have always made me laugh!

Meeting Maxons!

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Jeff, a Director of Client Services, about his experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  I just celebrated my 6 month anniversary!

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  Overall I was very impressed the family culture.  I was very, very pleased with the amount of attention the company puts toward the family atmosphere.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  Our database.  I had used a CRM before, but not this one.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Communication, that open lines of communication are invaluable.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  I am a people person and I believe that when I interact with other businesses, and business communities, I believe I get to make a difference and help them.  I get to help people get through a problem, and I like that ability.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Teamwork, I am very impressed with the amount of teamwork that is involved with Maxons.  I haven’t experienced that as strongly before with other business I have been with.  Here we have teamwork all the way from the people answering the phones, to the CEO.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I recently went to a project we were working on with the Project Manager.  In the initial call we were told there was 8 inches of water in a person’s high end finished basement.  When we got there, there was over 2.5 feet of water in 3k square foot area.  It was a beautifully designed recreation style room of a very large basement that had water flowing into it for two days while the homeowner was away.  The homeowner was so impressed with our quick response, and that we rolled up our pants and walked through his house to be able to help him. What impressed me the most was how relaxed the homeowner was, we built a rapport quickly and he was able to put his trust in us and stay calm.

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Justin, a Director of Client Services, about his experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  1 year 7 months

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  I thought this is a very unique profession, and it felt good to be around people who had a lot of experience and passion for what they do.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  The ins and outs of a property loss.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Where there are obstacles, there are opportunities.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  To answer, I’m going to pull from the first two lines of our company’s vision: “Maxons is a unique organization of great people doing extraordinary things under difficult circumstances. Maxons makes people’s lives better by providing caring, professional, & expert service at a critical time.”

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Teamwork – I’m fortunate to work with a fine group of caring individuals. Furthermore, in this industry, there are so many moving parts that go on, and without a solid unit, nothing would get accomplished. Any success I have or will have, I must first and foremost give credit to the team I work with.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  There isn’t one in particular that comes to mind, but my favorite stories come from my clients, who beam with happiness, when talking about making it through and recovering from a disastrous event with grace because of the work we did. Every time I hear a story like that, it definitely gives a warm feeling, and makes me feel good.

Meeting Maxons!

Meetign Maxons

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Kathy, a Sales Coordinator and Account Manager, about her experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long been with Maxons?

A:  8.5 years.

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  Amazing!  I loved the culture – there was a lot going on, lots of events and different things happening.  We were busy.  I was really impressed how much got done.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  That planning and communication is very important within the team.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Consistency, we always need to be doing follow up and follow through.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  Because we help people at their worst.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Optimism because it is very easy to become negative and dwell.  If we all did that everything would go downhill.  It is easier to commit to the rest of our values when you are positive and optimistic.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  At one of our company outings we had some music playing while we were hanging out by a pool.  “Single Ladies” came on the radio and two of our Project Managers got up and did the whole single ladies dance – not only in front of us, but the other guests at the hotel!  We have a lot of fun, and it still makes us crack up!

Meeting Maxons!

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Lou, a Senior Director of Client Services, about her experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long been with Maxons?

A:  17 years

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  It was a highly recommended opportunity for me.  It turned out to be everything that I believed it would be and everything I was looking for.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  Being a little bit more independent.  My previous role required me to call my boss twice a day on my activity – and at that time, I had to go to payphones to do this!  I had to learn I didn’t need to call Damon and tell him my progress and success throughout the day.  Learning that kind of independence was a great experience!

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  Learning how to listen, working well with others, helping others, being a resource and a friend to my clients.  That led me to developing relationships beyond my wildest dreams with clients and colleagues that I never thought I could do through my career.  And seeing the trust that has developed between myself with people in the industry.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  I love helping people!  Love to get the phone to ring from the relationships I have developed, and then be able to do the work and make the end user happy.  It is so much fun and it is rewarding everyday.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:   Sincerity.  Our word is our bond!  People have been listening to me for a long time, and I have made promises for a long time. It is my job to be sincere with my people, both when our operations are normal, and when we are in the middle of a catastrophe.  You have to be sincere and compassionate with our clients and customers.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I loved how I was hired, I was referred by a client to Damon.  I got to have 2 great steak dinners with Damon as part of being interviewed.  I don’t think my family and I would have had the life we had without being a part of Maxons and working with Damon for all these years!
