Meeting Maxons!

Meetign Maxons

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Anna, our Executive Assistant to the CEO, about her experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  10 years!

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  The first week I was here, I remember everyone was working really hard, everyone was very focused and serious.  Then, we also had a Halloween party that same week and I got to see everyone have fun and enjoy being together.  It was a good balance – seeing how hard we work and how much fun we have.

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  Answering the phones, and we had a paging system then – so we were able to page people to pick up calls which was fun.  Then I had to jump in learning intakes and our database, and that part was harder as it needed concentration to not get customer details wrong.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  That we care.  We can’t teach someone how to care, but we all do, both about what we do professionally and each other.  So much of what we do is about caring for our customers, making sure we help them, to do that we have to care about each other.  All of us have this trait, genuinely.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  We are helping people.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Teamwork  – we are in it to win it!  We all depend on each other to move things forward and we are always chipping in.  No one can say “it’s not my job,” we just all help each other succeed.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I work in the office day to day.  But during Super Storm Sandy I ended up helping out a Project Manager out in the field and I learned so much about what we do!  How our Project Managers lead and guide crews, customers, and clients.  They are working in conditions where it isn’t always dry, or smells good – so it made me appreciate them all so much more.

A:  Sincerity – because I like that the people we do business with understand that we care about our clients, their clients, and what we do.

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I went to my first holiday party this year – and I liked everyone who works here!  When meeting a whole group you aren’t sure what will happen.  It is a great fit for me here, and it was so fun to see us be able to have a lot of fun together outside the office.  It is a great group of people!

Our Blog series, “Meeting Maxons!” continues this week. We will hear from Allen, a Project Coordinator, about his experiences at Maxons.

Q:  How long have you been with Maxons?

A:  2 years

Q:  Do you remember what your impressions were of the company after being here for about a month?

A:  My first day was a full staff meeting day – it was really active and busy.  Had a lot of training right away – it was intense!

Q:  What was the first thing you had to learn when joining the team?

A:  Learned a lot in training.  Then very quickly had to learn some more email etiquette.  Luckily – right when I started we had a communication seminar.

Q:  What is the most important thing you have learned since you have been here?

A:  The most important thing I have learned is proper communication.  Being able to properly communicate with PM on jobs, with clients on jobs, and  with insureds on jobs.

Q:  Why do you have a passion for this industry?

A:  Learning something new everyday.  Now I am getting out to more jobs – and I am able to learn different things from those visits.  And I see how every project is a way to bring some type of comfort to someone, that we are able to help them.

Q:  Which company core value speaks to you the most – and why?

A:  Optimism – saying no to negativity – it is just my personality!

Q:  What is your favorite Maxons story?

A:  I have a few.  I was able to see that there is a lot more to being coworkers at Maxons.  Greg in our office had a flat tire on a very cold, winter day.  Lou from our office went out and met Greg on the highway – stayed with him until the tow truck came, then they ate lunch together.  It showed me we have something beyond a work relationship – that at Maxons we share true, genuine caring.

Also last year our office lost 2 sales people in a short amount of time.  Leadership came to visit and said it was a difficult time, but that it brings opportunity.  We were feeling lost, and that we wouldn’t meet our goal.  But Leadership offered encouraging words to take the challenge as an opportunity.   We have all been able to expand our skills as a result of their encouragement.
